College Softball: Rewards and Sacrifices
Oct 07, 2023College softball is not for the weak - between 5am lifts, two a day practices, study hall, and the pressure of performing, it takes a special athlete to compete at the collegiate level. However, the benefits of fighting through all of those not so fun aspects is beyond words.
One of the best parts of playing a collegiate sport is the friends you make for life. You and 15-20 of your teammates fight through pain, adversity, and hardships together creating a bond that feels like a sisterhood. For 4 years these girls are your shoulder to cry on, the first to celebrate your victories (no matter how big or small), and are always there to pick you up on a bad day.
Another great aspect of being a collegiate athlete is the resources you have to make sure you have the best chance to excel in the classroom. Due to an athletes grueling schedule there are often options for extra resources and assistance to help you be the best student you can be. Private tutors, specific academic advisors to help schedule your classes around you sports schedule as best they can, etc..
There are so many benefits to playing college sports, yes it comes at a cost, but in the long run you will look back and be thankful for your career and the growth, friendships, and memories you made!
