That Time I Hit a Walk-Off (Seriously)

Okay, confession time.

Yes—I became a “P.O.”

Yes—I had a complicated relationship with hitting in college.

But also? I once hit a walk-off.

It was my junior year, and I hadn’t swung a bat in months. We were down a player due to illness, so my coach asked if I could just stand in to get through the inning.

First pitch: ball.

Second pitch: dead center. Gone.

I honestly stood there in disbelief. Rounding third felt like a dream. My teammates lost it.

That moment didn’t change my role, and I didn’t suddenly become a two-way star—but it reminded me of this:

Once an athlete, always an athlete.

You don’t lose your instincts just because you haven’t used them in a while.

And sometimes, your biggest moments come when you least expect them.

To all my P.Os who secretly miss swinging the bat—you never know when you’ll get your chance. Stay ready. Stay loose. And swing big when it comes.

Ever had a surprise hero moment? I want to hear it! Comment below and tell me your favorite “wait, what just happened?!” game memory.
